Farewell needs to be said to a sailor long passionate about the IOD Class.

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you all that Richard (Dick) Kempe passed away yesterday after a long illness.

Dick, along with his wife Cornelia (Neale), was a staunch supporter of the Class.  First as a sailor where he cut his teeth on keelboats…… his opinion, the ONLY keelboat worth talking about, and later as an International  Judge.

Dick was instrumental in planning many of the IOD major championships over the last fifteen years……..and was in fact, the Chair of the International Jury at many of the events over this period.

His sense of humour, his personal integrity, his knowledge and his passion for the Class will be greatly missed.

We, the Executive and members of the Class extend our sincere condolences to Neale and the rest of his family in their hour of grief

………..and from me personally, farewell my friend.

Interim President
